Champions League Match Day Four

Match Day Four of the Champions League is the reverse of those games played on Match Day 3. Manchester City had its first-ever Champions League win on Match Day 3 against Villarreal. The return fixture is against a Spanish side that is yet to register a point in this year’s competition. Bayern Munich is hosting Napoli and are the favorites to top Group A.

Group B is much tighter. Inter have a two-point lead over CSKA Moscow and Trabzonspor who both have a two point lead on Lille. A win by Inter should go a long way to sealing their spot in the knockout rounds.

Manchester United benefited from playing Romanian side Otelul Galati in Match Day 3 and will most likely take another three points against them here. Benfica should defeat Basel to book their place in the final 16.

Real Madrid has left Ajax and Lyon fighting for second place. Betting favors Lyon to advance.

In Group E, Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen have developed a healthy lead over Valencia and Genk. There is a similar situation in Group F with Arsenal and Marseille and the lead they have over Olympiacos and Borussia Dortmund.

Group G is proving to be the most fascinating of the eight groups. Cypriot side APOEL tops the group with five points while Zenit St Petersburg and Porto both have four. Shakhtar Donetsk is in fourth place with two points. In such a tight group, wins are invaluable and none of the four sides are certain of advancing or being eliminated. Match Day 4 sees Apoel host Porto while Shakhtar visits St Petersburg. Online betting believes Porto and Zenit will be the two sides to advance.

Then there is Group H where AC Milan and Barcelona have daylight between them and BATE Borisov and Viktoria Plzen. The defending champions are still favorites to win it all.
