Chasing the 2011 Copa America

Could this be the year that Brazil finally win the Copa America on Argentinean soil? They are in Group B along with Paraguay, Ecuador and Venezuela which is by no means an easy group but they should advance to the knockout stages and, looking around, it’s hard to find any football bets against Brazil topping their group.

Group A contains hosts Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica and Bolivia while Group C has Uruguay, Chile, Peru and Mexico. This is probably the most even of the three groups but Uruguay will be slight favourites to finish top – as reflected by most football odds.

Casting an eye over the squads and you see some of the best footballing talent in the world. With the likes of Zanetti, Cambiasso, Mascherano, Milito, Tevez and of course Messi, Argentina have got amazing depth in their squad. Given this you would expect most live football betting to favour the hosts; especially at the start of the game. Watch this space and see who, if anyone, has the depth to challenge them?

For new Brazilian coach Mano Menezes, this tournament is a massive test. With Daniel Alves, Robinho, Pato, Lucio and Neymar they also have a squad full of talent, although this is a completely different team to that which made three World Cup final appearances in four tournaments.

World Cup 2010 surprise package Uruguay will hope they can continue their good form. They won the Copa the last time it was held in Argentina and that will be a good omen for them. With the likes of Luis Suarez and Diego Forlan up front anything is possible and the football betting odds aren’t sure what to make of the two-time World Champions.

The last two finals have been Brazil-Argentina affairs and it stands to reason that this will happen again. The two are the strongest sides in South America and by some margin. Will this be three in a row or will one of the other proud nations get to have their say in proceedings?
