FA Cup Fourth Round Preview

The FA Cup is unique. The eyes of the world are always on our captivating competition, year in, year out, admiring from near and far. And what of the players? Those from Europe, the Americas, Africa, Australia and everywhere else whose dream, even after making it as a professional, is to take to the pitch at Wembley in an FA Cup final.

Welcome Crawley, Burton and Stevenage, and well done. The Cup’s fourth round always has its third round heroes to spice things up and, based on current form, Crawley have the best chance of progressing even further, having been granted an away day at lowly Torquay.

Burtontravel to Burnley, who are sniffing around the play-off places in the Championship, and the giant-killers will look to their twelfth man, consisting of their dreams, their fans and the occasion, to see them through. Bigger clubs always look a little embarrassed at the final whistle, having beaten non-leaguers 6-0, but it’s a day the amateurs will remember forever – the day they shared a pitch with the people they usually have to pay to see, and this is the cup, so anything can happen!

Other interesting matchups to emerge from the draw are: Bolton v Wigan, Fulham v Tottenham, Everton v Chelsea and Aston Villa v Blackburn Rovers as well as an intriguing one between West Ham and Nottingham Forest. And then there’s Round Five…
